What’s your reaction when you see a very very thin person walking by and it’s obvious they have an eating disorder.. We are so quick to judge and automatically put the blame on them… Saying oh my word look at them how ill do they look? They mustn’t eat.. Blah blah blah.
I’m working along with a few girls and their consultants who are in this boat.. And how my eyes have been opened.. They are hurt hurt girls and mainly hurt due to the reactions of people …. It’s so easy for people to say “look how thin you are you look ill” when in fact it’s very rare anyone would ever say “look how fat your are”.. That’s because being over weight is more accepted than being under weight when in fact either over eating or under eating all carry with it major problems.
So next time when you see an severely underweight person don’t criticize instead realize that they are hurting and they need your encouragement .. The gym can be used to aid recovery from anorexia and eating disorders and it can become a safe place of rehabilitation if used correctly and not abused.
People matter whether over or under weight and hurt people will hurt people so before we judge let’s examine our own hearts as to what gives us the right to laugh or scorn at peoples shapes and sizes.. Everyone is a work in progress so let’s be open to everyone’s weaknesses and that way we can all be a help in their recovery rather than a hindrance ❤️
